HEALING AND HOPE:
A Rainbow Reflection for Christmas
Written By: FTS PridePulse
For many of us in the LGBT community, this season becomes a moment to pause, huminga, at kilalanin ang mga sugat, pagod, at mga pangarap na ilang beses ding naisantabi.
Christmas reminds us of healing. Yung tipong tahimik na pagbangon pagkatapos ng mahabang taon ng pakikibaka. Maybe you spent the year fighting for acceptance, defending who you are, or simply trying to survive in spaces that didn’t always feel safe. Maybe may mga nasabi o nagawa ang ibang tao na nag-iwan ng bigat, or maybe you had to pretend, smile, and carry more than what others see. Kung ganito ang naramdaman mo, please know: valid ‘yan. Hindi ka nag-iisa.
Pero alam mo kung ano ang maganda sa Pasko? It gives us permission to hope again. Hope for gentler days. Hope for kinder people. Hope na someday, you can sit at a family table without fear. Hope na your love will be celebrated, not questioned. Hope na the world will finally understand na lahat tayo may sari-sariling kulay, and none of those colors deserve to be dimmed.
This Christmas, let’s embrace healing in our own way. Maybe through reconnecting with people who make you feel at home. Maybe through resting, allowing yourself to breathe, or simply celebrating small wins that no one else sees. Healing doesn’t have to be loud. Minsan sapat na yung tahimik na pag-amin sa sarili na, “I made it. I’m still here.”
And let’s welcome hope, kahit konti lang muna. Hope that tomorrow can be brighter. Hope that acceptance can grow. Hope that love, in all its forms, will always find a way to shine.
Sa bawat bahaghari, may ulan muna bago liwanag. Sa bawat tao, may sugat bago lakas. And in every Christmas, may pagkakataon palagi para muling maniwala sa sarili, sa komunidad, at sa mas makulay na bukas.
Merry Christmas! May your heart heal where it hurts, and may hope return where it’s needed most.
